Big News from Elizabeth and The Big Cheese!

Big News from Elizabeth and The Big Cheese!

Dear Art Camp Families,
David Wohlstadter (aka “The Big Cheese”) and I have some exciting news for you all! Please read the email below from David regarding Art Camp 2016!  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at anytime.
Thank you so much.  I promise to continue to provide a quality program that is creative, unique, positive and FUN for your kids as we always have!
See you at camp!
Elizabeth Paravicini
Director,  Summer Art Academy

Dear Art Camp Families,
I have some exciting news and wanted you to be among the first to know!  After 15 wonderful years of running the Summer Art Academy, 10 of those years at Temple Beth Hillel, I am transferring ownership of my summer camp program to Elizabeth who, as you know, has been running camp with me now for 12 years!

I know that our loyal camper community is in capable hands with Elizabeth. On the surface not much will change, camp will still be the same great program you have come to expect each summer and once camp does start I will still be around, after all the Big Cheese cannot just disappear!

Running a successful summer at camp has never been an issue for Elizabeth, as you know she runs a tight ship and I am positive she and her wonderful staff, many of whom you know, will continue to do so over the years ahead.

So as I look toward retiring from the camp business, please welcome Elizabeth as she steps into her new role as owner of the Summer Art Academy and her bright future as a business owner. I am so excited for her.

We all can’t wait to see you again this summer at Art Camp!

Founder, Summer Art Academy

Meet Elsa, our new Art Camp 101 Director!

Meet Elsa, our new Art Camp 101 Director!

I am so thrilled to have Elsa join our team of directors this summer! Elsa, has been working with us for six years, leading the Cheddar Cheese group, and she is definitely ready for this role of Art Camp 101 director! Learn a little bit more about Elsa below.

elsa

Elsa will be graduating from Cal State Northridge this upcoming Spring 2016, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology with a Minor in Anthropology. She currently works as a Program Supervisor for the L.A.’s B.E.S.T After-School Enrichment Program where she provides a safe environment for children from Kinder through Fifth grade. She loves being able to provide an opportunity to inspire little minds and hearts to do their greatest. Elsa has been working with kids of all age groups for seven years and with the Summer Art Academy for 6 years. She loves the way that the Summer Art Academy provides different outlets for children to be inspired, and is an advocate for children to find their passion early in life. Elsa is ecstatic to be leading the Art Camp 101 program this year and can’t wait to lead a safe, fun and memorable environment for our 5-7 year old campers!

Getting ready for Summer 2016!

Getting ready for Summer 2016!

At the end of every summer, I often get asked, “Elizabeth, what do you the rest of the year when you’re not running Art Camp?”

And my answer always is, “I prepare for Art Camp all year long, and I get right back to work to come up with new and exciting classes for the next summer!”

Organizing and running a great Summer Camp program takes a lot of work and many hours of planning and scheduling and I LOVE IT! I’m thrilled to let you know that I’ve been busy working away at our 2016 Schedule of Workshops and can’t wait to share it with you January 2016.

For now, I’ll be updating our Camp Blog every week, sharing events we’ll be volunteering around our community , flashback camp photos from this summer, and cool fun facts about our wonderful and caring staff.

THANK YOU to all of you who have joined us this past summer. Every summer just gets bigger and better, and it’s all because of you!

With that said, I’d like to announce our Camp Dates for Summer 2016:

Art Camp & Ciclavia 2015!

Art Camp & Ciclavia 2015!

Hi there ART CAMP Families!

The Art Camp Staff is participating in CICLAVIA, TODAY, Sunday here in the Valley on the corner of COLFAX AND VENTURA from 9am-4pm!

If you don’t know about CICLAVIA, it’s a day where they close about 5.5 miles of the streets, from the NOHO station on Chandler and Lankershim, all the way down to Lankershim and Ventura, and then from Ventura and Lankershim all the way down to Coldwater Canyon. The streets will be CAR FREE from 9am-4pm, so you can come out and enjoy the day with your family and friends, bring your bicycles, skates, skateboards, walking shoes, etc, and have a great time! There will be different activities throughout the route and cool things to see, so come on out if you’re free!

Art Camp will have 2 booths on Ventura and Colfax, and we’ll be rotating activities throughout the day. We’ll be doing face painting, a fun photo booth, a cool art project, and Mystery Mike will be doing a cool show with showing kids how to make balloon animals around 12-1:30pm.

If you decide to come out, I would come down from MOORPARK STREET, since you won’t be able to drive on Ventura, and come onto Colfax, or any of the other side streets, and find parking in the neighborhood. Or start from any of the other streets, Tujunga, Coldwater Canyon, or Lankershim too.

For the new Art Camp families, it’s a great time for you to come and meet us as well and for your kids to enjoy a fun day!

I’m attaching the MAP of the event if you’d like to come down and hang with us! ciclavia_route_bus_map
